Choosing the Right Hardware

The best part about SocialSign.in Go is that it's a software-first solution. If you already have the right equipment, you don't need to buy new hardware, call a technician, or crawl under desks to plug in new wires.

However, because our platform powers your guest login experience through the cloud, your hardware must be cloud-managed and capable of communicating with our servers. Here's our guide to ensuring your hardware is a perfect fit.

1

The "Golden Rule": Use Cloud-Managed Enterprise Hardware

SocialSign.in Go is designed for Small and Medium Businesses that use modern, professional networking gear. To use Go, your hardware must support External Captive Portals.

Unlike home routers, enterprise-grade hardware allows our software to securely manage the login screen — ensuring your customers see your brand, not a generic login page.

Verified Compatible Brands

  • Cisco Meraki
  • Aruba Central
  • Juniper Mist
  • Ruckus ONE
⚠️ Consumer gear won't cut it. If you're using a router from a local electronics store or the default box from your ISP, it likely won't support the advanced features required for SocialSign.in Go.
2

Check Your Management Dashboard Access

Before starting your Go setup, ensure you have the administrative login for your hardware's cloud dashboard (e.g., the Meraki Dashboard or Aruba Central).

Before you start, confirm:

  • You can log into your cloud management dashboard
  • You have admin-level access (not read-only)
  • Firmware is current
💡 Best Practice: Ensure your firmware is up to date. Cloud-managed hardware usually updates automatically, but a quick check ensures the latest security protocols and API integrations are ready for our software.
3

Coverage & Placement

Hardware isn't just about the brand — it's about where it lives. For SocialSign.in Go to capture the most data, your guests need a strong, stable signal the moment they walk in.

Mount High

Place access points on the ceiling or high on walls. This prevents furniture and crowds from blocking the signal.

Identify "High-Dwell" Zones

Ensure your strongest signal is where people hang out — near the register, the waiting area, or the seating lounge. That's where they're most likely to join Wi-Fi.

Overlapping is Okay

If your space is larger than 1,500 sq. ft., consider a mesh setup with two or more compatible access points to eliminate dead zones where marketing opportunities are lost.

4

Separate Your Networks

SocialSign.in Go is for your Guest Wi-Fi.

💡 Best Practice: Never run your business operations (Point of Sale, back-office computers, security cameras) on the same SSID as your Guest Wi-Fi.

Your hardware should allow you to create a dedicated "Guest" SSID specifically for SocialSign.in Go. This keeps your business data secure and your guest traffic isolated.
